If you’re in a bad mood do a random act of kindness for someone else. Even if it’s someone you don’t even know. It might sound weird, but believe me, it’ll make you feel better.

So what’s a random act of kindness? If you see someone, and they’re having trouble with all their groceries, maybe you can offer to carry them for them. Or open the door for someone, even just compliment someone. Something that’ll make someone else feel good.

You’ll be surprised – the knowledge that you’ve done something for someone else will make you feel good. It’s a psycological thing. It really does make you feel happier about yourself. It’s win-win because you’re helping two people.

Balloons

This is one of my favorite things to do. When you’re feeling upset about something, or stressed, go buy some helium balloons. They’re not usually too expensive, a couple dollars. And then? Go for a walk. Yes, you might feel a little silly walking down the street with brightly colored balloons, but there’s something spontaneous about it, that makes you happy.

When you get to a place that feels peaceful to you, maybe a cemetary or an open area, let go of the balloons, and watch them until they’re too far away to be seen at all. Release them one at a time or all together, it doesn’t matter.

Alternatively, if you see a little kid while you’re out walking, or even someone who just looks stressed, you could give one of your balloons to them. Random acts of kindness like that can often make someone else’s day better.

Welcome to Girl In A Skirt, my new blog all about being happy! Yes. Happy. Because a lot of people in this world just don’t seem to have enough cheer in their lives, and it’s saddening, because things are so much easier if you just smile and take things easily.

Well. That’s not always the easiest thing to do. Because life tends to get in the way of being happy, and that’s never fun. So that’s where I come in! The purpose of this whole project is to help people be more cheerful, happy, positive, and in general healthier.
